Traveling to Aachen
By plane
We recommend to arrive at one of the following airports, which are located within 100 kilometres around Aachen.- Düsseldorf International (DUS). The biggest airport in the area. It is equipped with a train station named "Düsseldorf Flughafen" from which direct connections to Aachen exist; see below for further information on traveling to Aachen by train.
- Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN). Another big airport in the area. There are direct connections to Aachen from the train station "Köln/Bonn Flughafen" at the airport, see below for details.
- Airport Maastricht-Aachen (MST). This is a small airport, however, it is located in Maastricht, Netherlands, which is quite near to Aachen. Either public transport or shuttle busses can be used to travel from the airport to Aachen main station, see here for further information.
By train
The main train station in Aachen is called "Aachen Hauptbahnhof" or, abbreviated, "Aachen Hbf". It is part of the Thalys line from Paris via Brussels and it provides a highspeed connection to Cologne via ICE. Furthermore, local trains enable traveling to and from Cologne and Düsseldorf twice an hour. Please use the online form of the German Railways to find your appropriate connection to Aachen. The main station can be found in the south of the city center (see the hotel map). Some of our recommended hotels are located nearby. If you prefer not to walk to your destination, you can choose one of the many bus lines departing in front of the station. We refer to the online form of the Aachen transport company for checking bus directions and departure times.
